Job summary

State of Washington’s Fircrest Residential Habilitation Center in Shoreline seeks a Maintenance Mechanic 2 to perform skilled carpentry, repairs, and installations that support client care and daily operations. You will ensure facility reliability, safety, and comfort for residents and staff.

Responsibilities include repairing interiors, managing doors and access systems, fabricating specialized equipment, and conducting assessments with accurate time/material tracking.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with four years of maintenance experience or completion of a skilled apprenticeship.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform journey‑level carpentry for repairs and alterations of interiors and building systems.
• Install, repair, and maintain flooring, drywall, framing, roofing, concrete, fencing and related components.
• Maintain and repair windows, glazing, screens, gutters, and downspouts.
• Service and repair automatic doors and associated mechanical systems across campus buildings.
• Manage campus‑wide key, lock, and access control systems, including computerized card access.
• Design and fabricate specialized mechanical apparatus and client workstation devices.
• Conduct building condition assessments, recommend repairs, and track time and materials.
