Job summary

Waukesha County's Department of Public Works Facilities Maintenance Division seeks a Maintenance Mechanic II. The role runs Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm with a schedule of 7 weekends and 2 holiday shifts per year. Strong experience in building systems, mechanical/electrical work, and HVAC is required.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and five years of related work experience, including two years at a responsible level. Training substitutions are allowed year-for-year.

The selected individual will work Monday - Friday, 7am to 3:30pm. The position requires mechanics to work 7 weekends and 2 holiday shifts per year.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements

1. High School Diploma or GED. 2. Five (5) years of work experience involving general repairs and maintenance to building construction systems, mechanical/electrical systems, heating, ventilating, air conditioning systems, and related areas, two (2) of the five (5) years of experience must be at a responsible level (Maintenance Mechanic I or equivalent). 3. Relevant training at a technical school, college, university, or apprenticeship program may be substituted on a year-for-year basis to meet the work experience requirement.

In addition to the above, candidates must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the essential job functions as listed in Maintenance Mechanic II ADA Essential Functions Worksheet.
