Job Summary

Mechanics repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment according to manufacturer specifications using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments. The role requires working an 8-hour day shift, Monday through Friday, or a shift schedule, with availability for scheduled or unscheduled hours on nights and/or weekends to meet operational needs.

Responsibilities

This list highlights the primary duties and is not exhaustive:

• Disassemble, clean, inspect, repair, and reassemble equipment such as pumps, compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and steam turbines using appropriate tools and instruments.
• Identify and troubleshoot equipment problems to restore operation.
• Remove or install valves, pumps, motors, piping, and other equipment for maintenance or installation.
• Replace packing, filters, gaskets, and lubricate equipment to ensure proper functioning and longevity.
• Perform welding, cutting, and metal fabrication tasks as needed.
• Inspect and replace mechanical seals, bearings, steam traps, valves, and strainers to maintain safety and efficiency.
• Measure, cut, and install piping systems.
• Adjust belts and tension for optimal equipment performance.
• Operate vehicles and tools like forklifts, drill presses, and grinders.
• Ensure safety by inspecting ladders, tools, and work sites; perform lockout/tagout procedures.
• Crate or uncrate equipment for shipping or use.
• Fabricate and install brackets, hangers, and other supports.
• Perform routine inspections and tests on safety devices and equipment.
• Use rigging and lifting equipment for moving heavy components.
• Utilize site computer systems for maintenance records, ordering, and training.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for safe and correct work execution.
• Align rotating equipment and apply protective coatings.

Fitness Requirements

• Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Repetitive hand and arm movements, standing, walking, climbing, and working in various positions.
• Work with head tilted, in squatting, sitting, and climbing positions.
• Operate keyboards and wear respirators as medically qualified.
