Maintenance Mechanic - First Shift - Philadelphia PA

Position Overview

We are seeking a self-motivated Maintenance Mechanic to join our team on the first shift. The successful candidate will work independently to perform repairs, preventative maintenance, and other activities across our facility.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform emergency repairs, scheduled maintenance, and preventative tasks throughout the facility.
  2. Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently.
  3. Coordinate with the facility manager regarding contractor operations, inspecting work and suggesting improvements.
  4. Install, maintain, and repair processing machinery, including distillation columns, reactors, kettles, and control systems.
  5. Inspect and operate boilers and compressed air equipment daily.
  6. Follow HACCP protocols, including calibrations and equipment release procedures.
  7. Disassemble and repair machinery, installing new parts as needed.
  8. Repair electrical and plumbing systems.
  9. Utilize knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repairs to maintain the building and grounds.
Job Requirements
  • Broad knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building repairs.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to respond to emergencies.
  • Ability to inspect contractor work and recommend improvements.
  • Valid driver's license and insurability.
  • Preferred: Philadelphia Class "A" or "D" Operating Engineer's license, NJ Black Seal Boiler License.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to operate or learn computer and Windows-based programs.
  • Compliance with PPE policies, including steel toe boots, safety glasses, hairnet, and beard net.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, humid, and noisy environments, with appropriate PPE.
  • Availability from 6:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with willingness to work Saturdays as needed.
  • Training in confined space entry, hot work, line breaking, lift truck operation, and OSHA 10 is a plus.
  • Minimum five years of experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Experience with maintenance of pumps, valves, pneumatic and steam systems, and packaging machinery.
  • Basic welding skills; TIG welding on stainless steel is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
