The Maintenance Mechanic II performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs of mechanical systems and equipment within assigned facilities. This role may involve complex assignments across multiple systems or departments, requiring specialized knowledge in locksmithing, HVAC, motors, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. Responsibilities include repairing heating, lighting, cooling, plumbing, ventilation systems, installing and maintaining motors, and handling specialized equipment.

This position is located at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital - Macomb, MI.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair equipment such as steam valves, traps, coils, radiators, water softeners, heaters, condensate and circulating pumps.
• Service and repair electric motors, heaters, coolers, refrigerators, and related equipment using various tools.
• Maintain air compressors and air conditioning equipment.
• Service appliances like fans, toasters, washing machines, and gasoline pumps; may also maintain motor vehicles.
• Manage central steam and water treatment systems, diagnosing malfunctions with gauges and test instruments.
• Fabricate, assemble, and test parts such as pumps, valves, laboratory equipment, heaters, and compressors.
• Operate electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and other mechanical tools safely.
• Install new or replacement equipment across various maintenance disciplines.
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in boilers, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, and other systems.
• Open, repair, and maintain locks, doors, and electronic access systems to ensure safety and compliance.
• Maintain shop keys and records, operate key duplication machines.

Special Projects

• Participate in meetings, training, and seminars to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Assist in complex maintenance and repair projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Trade school graduate with 2 years of related experience.
• Or 4 years of related experience.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
