The City of Omaha is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to install, diagnose, and maintain equipment at municipal wastewater treatment plants, flood levee, and pump stations. You will lead minor projects and perform major maintenance on hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

This is skilled journey level work involving the installation and maintenance of equipment at the municipal wastewater treatment plants, flood levee, and pump stations. Employees in this class perform major and minor installation and maintenance and may be assigned as lead workers on larger, more difficult projects.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through, but are not limited to, the following combination of education and/or experience. High school diploma or its equivalent preferred AND Four (4) years of experience in at least two of the following areas: Pumps and motors, hydraulics, or pneumatics AND Responsible experience in the maintenance of equipment found in wastewater treatment facilities, levees, and pump stations.
Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operators license from the time of appointment. Must possess a forklift operators permit by the end of the probationary period.
$28.44 with step increases to $32.37 Hourly
Forty-hour work week. Paid leave per year: twelve days vacation; eighteen days sick; and fourteen holidays. The examination will consist of a structured interview which will be scheduled at a later date. The structured interview is designed to assess job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. The final eligibility list will be assembled from those candidates achieving a passing score of 60% on the structured interview (100% weight).
To claim five (5) points for veteran's preference, you must submit proof of service (such as a DD-214) that includes the date of induction, date of honorable separation, and Social Security number. (You must have completed more than 180 consecutive days of active duty.) To receive an additional five (5) points credit for disability, you must submit proof of eligibility from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs dated within the last 12 months. This information must be submitted to the Human Resources Department by September 17, 2026.
