The City of Omaha seeks a foreman to lead a crew performing maintenance and construction duties in municipal facilities. Supervises and participates in field work, ensuring safety and efficiency.
Candidates must have a high school diploma and four years of experience; a Class B CDL with N endorsement and air brake certification; and a 2nd Grade Hoisting and Engineer's Certificate by end of probation. The position offers a forty-hour week and comprehensive benefits.

Nature of Work: This is a foreman position on an assigned crew performing maintenance and/or construction duties with a municipal facility or assigned area. Work involves supervising and participating in those duties which are performed by an assigned crew. Employees in this classification exercise some independence in the performance of duties; however, any major changes in work procedures and policies are discussed with and approved by a designated supervisor.
Education and Experience: The knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through, but are not limited to, the following combination of education and/or experience.
High school diploma or its equivalent AND Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the area of assignment.
Special Qualifications: Must possess and maintain a valid Class "B" commercial driver's license with "N" endorsement and air brake certification at the time of application. Must possess a 2nd Grade Hoisting and Engineer's Certificate by the end of the probationary period. May be required to work an overnight schedule as assigned.
Pay Range: $63,148.80 with step increases to $81,265.60 Annually

The examination will consist of a training and experience form designed to assess job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position. The training and experience form will be given to candidates once their application has been received, reviewed by a recruiter, and accepted to test for the position. The form must be completed and returned to the Human Resources Department by September 17, 2026 (passing score 60%). Final eligibility list will be the training and experience form weighted 100%.
To claim five (5) points for veteran's preference, you must submit proof of service (such as a DD-214) that includes the date of induction, date of honorable separation, and Social Security number. (You must have completed more than 180 consecutive days of active duty.) To receive an additional five (5) points credit for disability, you must submit proof of eligibility from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs dated within the last 12 months. This information must be submitted to the Human Resources Department by September 17, 2026.
