Job description

Work Schedule: Nights - 3.5-day schedule, 6pm to 6am, Wed, Thurs, Fri, & Sat. Off Days - Sun, Mon & Tue.

This is a full-time experienced Maintenance Mechanic position responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and installing pneumatic and hydraulic systems, control valves, centrifugal and positive displacement pumps. Maintenance Mechanics also troubleshoot and repair AC/DC electrical systems, read schematics, and use electrical testing equipment (Volt-Ohm meter, amp meter, oscilloscope). Our experienced Mechanics have extensive understanding of Programmable Logic Controls and contribute through preventative maintenance systems and work order tracking. They have the skill and flexibility to work on any equipment within the facility and operate lathes, mills, arc and Heliarc welders for repair and fabrication.

If you lack extensive experience, you may be better suited for an entry-level position. We encourage you to find the role that best fits your skills. Prior to the in-person interview, you will be asked to complete a hands-on electrical skills test.

Although you will start working for Frito-Lay, this role can lead to career opportunities with our parent company, PepsiCo. We offer industry-leading pay and benefits, including health insurance, dental and vision, a 401(k) with company contribution, vacation days, and more.

Work varies daily depending on need and location. Conditions can be loud, and temperature control is limited in our large warehouses. Indoor conditions are affected by seasons and weather.

Our Maintenance team is known for:

  • Deep understanding of high-voltage wiring (480V 3-phase motors)
  • Multi-craft maintenance and repair (interrelated electrical and mechanical repairs)

Are you comfortable with high-voltage wiring and multi-craft repair? If yes, our team welcomes your contributions. Your day may include:

  • Assisting entry-level mechanics with difficult repairs
  • Working under pressure to fix equipment
  • Urgently restoring equipment to operation
  • Troubleshooting a variety of equipment issues
  • Conducting repairs on production and facilities equipment
  • Ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and reliability
  • Responding to maintenance calls, sometimes completing ongoing repairs
  • Inspecting machines, developing repair lists, and planning repairs
  • Diagnosing machines from task lists and taking corrective actions

To succeed, professional knowledge of equipment operation is essential. Do you have electrical certification, maintenance experience, technical school training, or welding experience? If so, you may be well-equipped. A proven base knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair (especially multi-craft) is preferred, with at least two years of training in a manufacturing environment being ideal.

Minimum requirements include:

  • Being at least 18 years old
  • Willingness to work on weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift 15-50 pounds with or without accommodations
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and stretch for extended periods
  • Willingness to work in environments with extreme temperatures, humidity, loud and hazardous equipment, and slippery surfaces

Key characteristics sought by management include:

  • Customer Service: treating all team members with respect and service
  • Flexibility: shifting priorities and multitasking effectively
  • Self-Starter: working independently and taking ownership
  • Safety Focus: adhering to safety policies to minimize risks

If you see yourself fitting this description, we look forward to your application. Be aware that downtime can be stressful, but our team finds the rewards worthwhile.

All qualified applicants will be considered regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran status, or disability. PepsiCo is an Equal Opportunity Employer and complies with relevant laws regarding criminal histories and fair hiring practices.
