Maintenance Mechanic (Electrician) - 2nd Shift

General: The Electrician supports the electrical and mechanical needs of a state-of-the-art turkey processing plant. The role involves acquiring knowledge and responsibilities across multiple crafts in the electrical and mechanical fields. The position reports to the maintenance supervisor, with a primary work schedule of Monday to Friday, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm (2nd shift), with flexibility for early/late shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed.

Specific Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Perform electrical preventative maintenance (PM) and follow best practices.
  • Apply knowledge of facility equipment and processes to troubleshoot electrical failures and minimize downtime.
  • Use knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, AC/DC circuits, and equipment settings to repair issues.
  • Run conduit and wire for new and existing electrical services and motor circuits.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and codes.
  • Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Assist co-workers with repairs and share knowledge proactively.
  • Identify and suggest continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Work independently and bring forward opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Requirements:

Education:

  • GED minimum; Associate's degree preferred but not required.
  • Electrical coursework or certification preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in electrical or mechanical fields.

Skills/Abilities/Attributes:

  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Understanding of electrical codes and regulations (preferred).
  • Detail-oriented; capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player, self-starter, and effective communicator.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift/move up to 35 lbs; occasionally 50 lbs.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and stoop for up to 10 hours per shift.
  • Work at heights above 4 feet.
  • Work safely in hot, cold, wet environments (35-40°F to 100°F) with distinct odors.
  • Exposure to low and high voltage equipment and conveying systems.
