Job summary

Ocean Spray is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic at the Markham Processing Plant. The role is a 12-hour shift from 4pm–4am or 4am–4pm with rotating weekends off, 36/48 hr schedule, indoors, year-round position. Candidate should grow into Electro-Mechanic or Master Mechanic within two years and be able to work without supervision.

Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing equipment, reading schematics, and using CMMS for data input while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Fundamental troubleshooting and replacement of electrical components, controls and automation.
• Ability to maintain, install, rebuild and repair plant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, installs, rebuilds, and repairs plant equipment.
• Make general repairs on building and supporting systems.
• Use hand and power tools to repair/replace faulty equipment.
• Diagnose electrical issues with a multi-meter and replace similar components.
• Read manuals, blueprints and schematics to diagnose problems.
• Enter data into CMMS accurately and timely.
• Perform basic boiler and ammonia system maintenance.
• Fabricate parts with machining equipment; weld broken components.
• Support 5S and housekeeping; assist peers as needed.

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic

Ocean Spray is now hiring at the Markham Processing Plant. The plant sits on 17 Acres and is 200,000 square feet and produces Sweetened Dried Cranberries (Craisins). The Maintenance Mechanic position is a 12-hour shift from 4pm-4am or 4am to 4pm with rotating weekends off, 36/48 hr. schedule, with a starting pay rate of $37.81. This position is a year-round position, working indoors.

Position Overview

Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. - Markham is a processing facility and receiving station. Product type(s) include: SDC’s, Fresh Fruit, Cranberry Receiving. The Maintenance Mechanic position is expected to possess skills and abilities to become an Electro-Mechanic or Master Mechanic within two (2) years of hire. Must be able to work without supervision and may be required to work alone. Must have the skills, ability and knowledge to maintain, install, rebuild and repairs all plant equipment and must gain the capabilities and knowledge to run plant equipment that is being worked on. Must have fundamental troubleshooting & replacement of electrical components, controls and automation. May not replace VFD's or motors that are greater than 25 HP without prior communication with the Maintenance Supervisor and further consultation/ review by the Maintenance Supervisor and licensed Electrician.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains, installs, rebuilds, and repairs any and all plant equipment
• Make general repairs on building and supporting systems
• Use hand tools and power tools to repair/replace faulty equipment
• Diagnose electrical issues using multi-meter, other defined tools and equipment manuals and replace electrical components that are similar to each other during a failure
• Uses and reads manuals, blueprints and schematics to diagnose equipment problems
• Accurately pull information and input data into CMMS system
• Basic boiler maintenance and ammonia systems
• Fabricates parts using proper machining equipment
• Weld broken equipment and tools
• Perform 5S and practice good housekeeping
• Assist other maintenance personnel with duties as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by management personnel
