The Maricopa Unified School District is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic and Welder responsible for repairing metal components in school facilities and maintaining district vehicles. POSITION: Maintenance Mechanic and Welder
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month year Support Staff Salary Scale
REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities and Operations
Welder: Responsible for repairing and maintaining various metal components within school facilities, including equipment, fixtures, building structures, and playground equipment, using welding techniques like arc welding, MIG welding, and TIG welding, while adhering to safety regulations and blueprints, often under supervision.
Mechanic: Responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on all vehicles within a school district maintenance fleet, ensuring their safe and operational functionality by addressing mechanical issues with expertise in automotive systems and compliance with safety regulations.
Able to perform the following physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation: critical sensory requirements include general vision, corrected to 20/20, hear or listen in the normal range (corrected) and speak and give directions clearly. Able to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, lift (exerting force up to 60 pounds), carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Able to crawl, bend and work in confined spaces. Able to drive/travel in the performance of job requirements. Able to operate a forklift and pallet jack.
High school diploma or GED and six (6) months experience in warehouse work OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that provide the required knowledge and skills.
REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Valid Driver's License, Automotive Service Excellence Certification - ASE (Preferred), Certified Welder Certification (Preferred)
