Maintenance Mechanic A – Non-Exempt

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining complex machinery and mechanical/electrical equipment for manufacturing jet engine components. The Maintenance Technician ensures maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness and can work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Location: Newington, CT

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Troubleshoot issues & perform all repairs, modifications, adjustments, and preventive/predictive and routine maintenance on production equipment, including CNC machines (e.g., VTLs, G&L's, Bullards, Broach Machines, Okuma, Mazak-Vari Axis, Mill-Turn, VBM’s, Mitsui Seiki).
  2. Troubleshoot issues and repair failures of production equipment.
  3. Perform electrical repairs and/or replacement of control devices, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), circuit boards, servo motors, and drives. Experience with machine controls such as Fanuc, Mazak, Okuma, Siemens.
  4. Assist operations with testing and implementation of equipment.
  5. Analyze deviations and define machine-related corrective actions.
  6. Initiate repairs and modifications for continuous improvement and process stability (e.g., 6S, Rapid Improvement Events, Preventive Maintenance).
  7. Support building maintenance and shop preventive maintenance as needed.
  8. Monitor and maintain environmental, health, and safety equipment and systems for production and non-production equipment.
  9. Read and interpret documents and drawings, such as blueprints, manuals, wiring diagrams.
  10. Knowledge of OSHA standards: Lock Out/Tag Out, Hazard Communication, Fork Lift Certification, NFPA 70E Arc Flash (electrical safety).
  11. Perform other duties such as TPM and related responsibilities as assigned.
  12. Participate in training as required.
  13. Travel domestically up to 10% as needed.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; noise level is usually moderate.
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 35 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, reach, bend, and move around the facility.
Requirements
  • Must be a “US Person” as defined by the US Government, able to work unrestricted with ITAR data.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of experience as a CNC Maintenance Mechanic.
  • Associate's Degree in Industrial Maintenance or a related technical field preferred.
  • Understanding of computer CNC software.
  • 5+ years experience as a multi-craft technician in mechanics, electrical, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC, CNC controls, drives, and servo systems.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English at a functional level.
  • Strong preventive maintenance background.
