Job description

This position is a key part of a high-performance team; a mechanic is responsible for the successful daily completion of assigned work, either on a priority basis or as assigned by the maintenance management team.

This role requires minimal supervision and involves working in a team-based filling and packaging production environment to manufacture food. The ideal candidate will safely perform and guide repairs, replacements, installations, inspections, enhancements, optimizations, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure equipment reliability. Safety is paramount, and shortcuts are not acceptable.

Responsibilities:

• Perform all duties with safety as a primary focus, following GMPs, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Support safety compliance and report near misses to promote a safe work environment.
• Read, understand, and create corrective work orders as needed.
• Respond to and document all work orders in the CMMS system.
• Identify safety or productivity issues and address them.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment.
• Service and repair plant equipment such as air compressors, heat exchangers, boilers, and wastewater systems.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues, especially when production lines encounter problems.
• Communicate effectively with line operators to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Assist and train other maintenance staff as needed.
• Seek opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
• Contribute to cost control and waste minimization efforts.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems with effective troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read schematics and use basic electrical measuring tools.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong problem-solving and math skills.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in related manufacturing environments, such as oil, chemical, pharmaceutical, or food industries.

Additional Information:

The work environment includes exposure to loud noises, dust, heat, sparks, oil, and smoke. PPE like safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, and hard hats are required. Activities involve standing for extended periods, working with heavy machinery, and occasionally climbing ladders or stairs. The physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs., and sensory abilities such as hearing, seeing, speaking, smelling, and touching are necessary.
