Job summary

Tandem Foods seeks an energetic and self-motivated Mechanic to join our maintenance team. You will work closely with the production team, line leads, supervisors, and maintenance counterparts to keep packaging and utility equipment running smoothly.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance on motors and conveyors, quick repairs during production, and collaboration with Engineering on improvements. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on motors, conveyors, production, and utility machines.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and scheduled maintenance.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on packaging, production, and utilities equipment.
• Locate problems by observing devices in operation and using measuring/testing instruments.
• Remove defective parts with hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools.
• Adjust parts of machines and control instruments using hand tools and measuring tools.
• Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs.
• Collaborate with Engineering on new projects and process improvements.
• Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
• Maintain communication of actions, issues, and opportunities across teams.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures and rules.
• Lift up to 50 lbs as required and inspect machinery in confined or awkward positions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Seeking an energetic and self-motivated Mechanic to join our team. The position reports to the Maintenance Manager. They will work closely with the production team, line leads, supervisors, and maintenance counter parts.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, conveyor systems, production, and utility machines by following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.


• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment as equipment is made available.


• Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging, production, and utility machines.


• Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, using precision measuring, and testing instruments.


• Remove defective/damaged parts using items such as hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.


• Adjust functional parts of machines and control instruments by using items such as hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.


• Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs as required.


• Work with and support Engineering during new projects and process improvement activities.


• Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish requisite tasks.


• Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, issues, and ongoing opportunities.


• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.


• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. if required, and dexterity to allow looking inside of machinery, panels, overhead, and potentially awkward positions or locations to assess equipment.
