Job summary

Nutrien Ag Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic in Watsonville, CA to install and maintain production machines and plant equipment.

You will troubleshoot and repair various systems including pumping systems, compressors, generators, and reactors, while performing preventive maintenance on plant equipment. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with an associate degree in mechanical or industrial maintenance as a plus, and 2+ years of relevant experience in a processing

• 2+ years of experience in operating processing plant environment such as food processing, chemical processing or pharmaceutical or training equivalent required.
• 2+ years of forklift experience preferred.
• 2+ years of experience/training in making repairs on typical chemical processing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain production machines and plant equipment.
• Repair, troubleshoot or maintain pumping systems, compressors, generators, reactors, heat exchangers, filters and agitators in operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance on various types of production equipment.
• Inspect parts for defects and replace defective parts and reassemble equipment.
• Perform repairs and fabrication of piping systems utilizing MIG, ARC, and TIG welding techniques.
• Assist with installation and troubleshooting of PLC controlled automated systems including actuated valves, pumps, flow meters, scales and interlocks and safety systems.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and scheduled maintenance during machine service.
• Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
• Mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust.
• Plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
• Detect faulty operations, report to supervision.
• Building and grounds maintenance including lighting, HVAC, masonry, plumbing.

What You'll Do:

• Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment
• Perform repair, troubleshooting or general maintenance work of various types of pumping systems, compressors, generators, reactors, heat exchangers, filters and agitators in operation
• Perform regular preventive maintenance on various types of production equipment, including but not limited to valves, pumps, gear boxes and vehicles, machines and plant facilities
• Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear; replace defective parts and reassemble equipment
• Perform repairs and fabrication of piping systems utilizing MIG, ARC, and TIG welding techniques
• Assist with the installation and troubleshooting of PLC controlled automated systems including actuated valves, pumps, flow meters, scales and associated interlocks and safety systems
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
• Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities
• Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and adjust
• Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
• Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
• Perform building and grounds maintenance including lighting, HVAC, masonry, plumbing

The salary range for this role, in Watsonville, CA, is between $18.00 - $28.00 per hour. Actual salary may vary based on experience, skills, education, location and other factors.
