Job summary

Westchester Medical Center seeks a Maintenance Mechanic to perform general maintenance and repair duties across hospital facilities, machines and equipment, with carpentry, plumbing, painting and mechanical trades involved.

The role includes repairing, maintaining and constructing equipment, plumbing/heating systems, and helping with machine tools and assemblies. A High School Diploma is required, and hospital experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, maintains, and constructs a variety of equipment in an establishment, ensuring that work meets needs.
• Repairs, maintains, assembles, and installs pipes, fittings and fixtures of plumbing and heating systems to ensure it functions correctly and efficiently.
• Sets up and operates machine tools and fits and assembles parts to make or repair metal parts, mechanisms, tools, machines, etc.
• Repairs, installs, replaces and maintains locking devices, ensuring equipment functions correctly and efficiently.
• Repairs, maintains, replaces and installs motors, machine parts, etc., using brazing and welding equipment to ensure that equipment functions correctly and efficiently.
• Lays out jobs, making up rough plans and sketches when needed.
• Repairs, replaces, and maintains a variety of mechanical systems and devices to ensure that they function correctly and efficiently.
• Maintains work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition.
• Requisitions items, supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
• Recommends new equipment and methods to improve work performance.
• Coordinates special projects as directed by Engineering/ Facilities Supervisor and is available for 24-hour emergency maintenance services as scheduled.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
