General Duties
- Perform general repairs and trouble‑shooting in assigned areas, including locating, documenting, and repairing unreported equipment/building discrepancies.
- Perform daily preventive maintenance inspections/repairs in assigned areas and complete all related documentation.
- Conduct electrical safety checks in patient rooms.
- Perform repairs/safety checks on non‑patient equipment.
- Investigate maintenance requests and determine appropriate actions, including referral to other crafts.
- Ensure all work done by other craftsmen is completed in assigned areas and monitor others to assure completion of repairs.
- Enter supply rooms on nursing units as needed to perform necessary job functions.
- Refrain from manipulating or removing intravenous fluids stored in the area.
- Demonstrate dependability by working with other employees, maintaining communication, and completing tasks effectively.
- Maintain knowledge of life safety, patient safety, and infection prevention measures relevant to craft trades; possess general hospital operation knowledge; inspect fire/smoke‑rated doors and wall partitions for NFPA compliance; conduct routine environmental and safety rounds.
Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
Experience Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic/technician in a corporate setting.
Licenses and Certifications
- Driver's License – Class E – Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Operate hand tools, power tools, equipment, and electrical testing equipment requiring manual dexterity.
- Understand oral and written instructions, schematic drawings, and layouts.
- Utilize computer, printer, copier, telephone, calculator, cell phone, and 2‑way radios.
- Work alternative/shift work schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime hours.
- Work with computer maintenance management software.
