Job Description

The GMP Asset Mechanic is responsible for ensuring that GMP production assets are evaluated prior to purchase, qualified, documented as needed, maintained, and commissioned prior to use. They also handle proper decommissioning and storage for future use. Responsibilities include reviewing equipment and room designs, executing qualification and maintenance activities, troubleshooting failures, implementing corrective and preventative actions, and contributing to the development of maintenance plans, tasks, procedures, and schedules. The role involves recommending and procuring spare parts and consumables, supervising external contractors, and documenting activities as directed.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned and unplanned maintenance on assets in a GMP environment, ensuring documentation is complete.
• Troubleshoot equipment and system failures, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventative measures.
• Manage and issue equipment tooling, maintaining proper tracking, readiness, and availability.
• Coordinate and perform equipment relocations, ensuring no damage and full functionality post-move.
• Support installation of new equipment, including FAT, SAT, qualification protocols, and maintenance planning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to schedule, perform, and document GMP asset tasks.
• Develop task lists and maintenance plans based on experience, manuals, and manufacturer support.
• Create and review work orders, permits, change controls, SOPs, and specifications.
• Train personnel on equipment maintenance, operation, and related procedures.
• Follow safety guidelines and participate in safety meetings.
• Assist in forecasting budget requirements and managing department expenses.
• Maintain professional relationships with internal customers, clients, and vendors.
• Comply with regulatory requirements and provide emergency support as needed.
• Report safety and sustainability issues promptly and stop work if necessary for safety reasons.
