Branding Iron Holdings is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for the Sauk Rapids Plant. Under general supervision, you will perform maintenance on machinery, equipment, buildings, and structures with an eight-hour shift and weekend flexibility.

You will execute preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and document parts usage, while maintaining ammonia refrigeration systems and ensuring safety compliance in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair and maintain equipment and facilities.
  • Must furnish own hand tools and be willing to learn Mainsaver.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; on-the-job training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Complete maintenance requests and work orders to a satisfactory standard.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and lubrication schedules.
  • Make emergency repairs within knowledge scope.
  • Inspect machinery and buildings for proper operation and safety.
  • Document work completion and parts usage accurately.
  • Maintain ammonia refrigeration system and tools/equipment.
  • Follow HACCP, GMP and safety rules; use protective gear as directed.
  • Suggest process improvements to boost efficiency and quality.

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, perform general and preventative maintenance services and related repairs to machinery, equipment, buildings, and structures. Typically, an eight-hour work shift, although overtime may be required at the last minute, Monday – Friday work week. Will be required to work some weekends, including Sundays.

Responsibilities:
  1. Assure that jobs specified on maintenance requests and work orders are completed satisfactorily.
  2. Perform preventative maintenance and lubrication schedules
  3. Make emergency repairs within area of knowledge and responsibility.
  4. Maintain tools and equipment required for maintenance tasks and inventory of equipment and supplies.
  5. Inspect machinery in operation to assure proper functioning, including checking pressures and temperatures as required.
  6. Assist in periodic inspections of buildings, structures, and equipment.
  7. Refer work requiring more specialized or skilled crafts to appropriate lead and follow-up to completion.
  8. Perform routine work orders and projects as assigned.
  9. Document work completion and parts ordering and/or usage accurately.
  10. Maintain and operate ammonia refrigeration system.
  11. Maintains cleanliness of work area.
  12. Follows all appropriate safety rules and regulations, conduct rules, HACCP, GMP, Quality Standards and other regulations.
  13. Convey hazards related to equipment to staff working near and with machines.
  14. Comply with established safety and security standards by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment for tasks as directed.
  15. Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  16. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  17. May be selected to perform duties based upon production demands.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications

Must be able to operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment and facilities. Must show an above average aptitude in the use of tools and equipment and of several trades or skills such as electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, machining, welding, and hydraulics. Must be able to perform preventative maintenance and lubrication schedules. Must have previous maintenance experience and/or technical schooling. Must have previous maintenance experience. Technical training would be a plus but is not required. Must furnish own hand tools. Must be willing and capable of learning and using Mainsaver software system.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or GED preferred. Some general maintenance or related experience preferred. On-the-job training will be provided.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to write simple correspondence.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form. Ability to deal with problems effectively.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift/move 10 – 80 pounds continuously. Requires varying degrees of pushing, pulling, and lifting. Must be able to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles such as walking, crawling, bending, climbing, and stooping. Able to stand for prolonged periods (8-hour shift). Ability to work all hours. Have a good sense of smell and touch.The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work Environment:

Standing on cement floor for the entire shift. Noise: Moderate – high. Temperature: 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit range.

Benefits Overview

Competitive base salary: $27.00 per hour to $32.00 per hour. Base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Full benefits package, including medical/ vision/ dental/life insurance, 401(k) with company match, and paid time off.
