Job summary

UFP Industries in Prairie du Chien, WI, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to perform basic preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and tools. The role supports the Maintenance Department with various machine and building repairs.

The shift runs 6pm–6am on days including Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday; training and safety meetings are part of the routine. Equal opportunity employer committed to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and basic maintenance knowledge.
• 1+ year experience in machine repair/maintenance.
• Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control systems; welding experience helpful.
• Familiarity with safe equipment practices and regulations.
• Ability to handle hazardous waste procedures if in Treating Department.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, tools, and building.
• Assist in repairs of woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts.
• Order supplies and parts as required.
• Maintain records of repair and maintenance activities.
• Follow safety rules and keep work area clean and organized.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for performing basic preventative maintenance on machinery, equipment, and tools, and assists other members of the Maintenance Department in various machine/building repairs.

Schedule 6pm - 6am M, Tu, F, Sa, Su, W, Th

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs regular, preventative maintenance on all machinery, equipment, tools, and building
• Assists in the repair of woodworking machinery, infeed/outfeed systems, hand tools, and forklifts in accordance with diagrams, operating manuals, and manufacturer specifications
• Orders supplies and parts as required
• Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled
• Maintains records of repair and maintenance activities
• Performs duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures
• Maintains a clean and organized work area
• Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings
• If assigned to Treating Department, performs duties consistent with hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
• Prepares various reports as requiredPerforms other duties as required

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Minimum 1 year of experience in machine repair in maintenance
• Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and control technology, and welding
• Working knowledge of safe equipment practices and applicable laws, rules, and regulations
• Demonstrate working knowledge of hazardous waste and hazardous material handling procedures and practices
• Must be at least 18 years of age
