Select Medical is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for our hospital campus in the Dallas area. The role covers general mechanical and preventative maintenance, inspections, services, repairs, and overhauls on hospital equipment, with installations as needed and adherence to safety codes.

You will troubleshoot electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, document work orders, and support 24/7 operations with variable shifts, weekends, and on-call hours.

Position: Maintenance Mechanic

Location: SSH-Dallas

Schedule: Full-time, Willingness to work variable shifts, weekends, holidays, or on-call hours since hospitals operate 24/7.

Responsibilities

• You will be responsible for performing general mechanical and preventative tasks, as well as performing inspections, services, repairs and overhauls on equipment of the hospital as directed.
• Installing all new equipment and systems as assigned and ensuring that installations and operations comply with all manufacturer’s specifications with all applicable codes, regulations and the hospital’s safety policies.
• Coordinating and inspecting projects, ensuring that they are meeting quality standards in an approved time frame and that they comply with city/state codes as well as JACHO.
• Carrying out routine and specific assignments to ensure that the physical plant and assigned equipment are in safe operating condition and in compliance with applicable Hospital policies and with regulatory and/or accrediting codes and specifications.
  • System Repairs: Fix plumbing leaks, electrical outlets, lighting, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) controls.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Inspect and service mechanical equipment, backup generators, and ventilation filters on a regular schedule.
  • Facility Upkeep: Perform minor drywall, painting, carpentry, and flooring repairs.
  • Compliance and Logging: Document all completed work orders, inspections, and safety checks to meet state and federal healthcare regulations.
  • Emergency Response: Answer urgent repair calls promptly to prevent disruptions in patient care areas.
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to work variable shifts, weekends, holidays, or on-call hours since hospitals operate 24/7.
