Job summary

Encompass Health invites a Maintenance Mechanic to uphold reliability of hospital systems, including equipment, utilities, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and light construction. The role spans painting, groundskeeping, security, and floor care within a hospital setting.

Responsibilities include testing EPSS, installing and repairing diverse systems, and reporting daily progress. Requires flexibility for varying shifts and safety with hazardous materials in a healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Licensing in a specialty field such as electrical, plumbing or HVAC preferred.
• Valid driver's license may be required.
• High school diploma or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Experience in preventative maintenance, equipment repair, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or construction; healthcare experience is a plus.
• May work weekdays, weekends, evenings or nights as needed.
• Must tolerate frequent position changes and bending for a full shift.
• Work on ladders and scaffolds; sit, stand and walk for extended periods.
• Hazardous materials handling safety required.

Job description

Maintenance Mechanic – ensure the reliability and functionality of all hospital systems, including equipment, utilities, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, as well as light construction, painting, groundskeeping, security, and floor care.

Responsibilities

• Safely and effectively test and operate emergency power supply system (EPSS) and its components.
• Install, maintain, and repair mechanical, electrical, HVAC, pneumatic, oxygen, and telephone systems.
• Work independently to complete job tasks within specified time frames under the direction of a supervisor.
• Maintain skills in auto, carpentry, phone, pneumatics, stationary engineering, hydraulics, and computer systems.
• Plan, interpret, examine, draw, and record work; report daily completion to supervisor.
• Perform all types of control maintenance, building construction, repair, and equipment overhaul within required time frames.
• Maintain a working knowledge of all facility systems and applicable regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Licensing in a specialty field such as electrical, plumbing, or HVAC is preferred.

• Previous experience in preventative maintenance, equipment repair, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and/or construction required. Healthcare experience is a plus.
• May be required to work weekdays, weekends, evenings, or nights as needed.
• Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Must tolerate frequent position changes such as twisting, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and bending for a complete shift.
• Ability to work on ladders and scaffolds; able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to work safely with hazardous materials.
