Job description

St. Martin's Episcopal School is looking for a hands-on maintenance mechanic to join our physical facilities team and help keep our campus running. You'll be all over the property, fixing what breaks, keeping ahead of what's about to, and pitching in wherever the school needs an extra pair of hands.

What you'll actually be doing:

Some days it's electrical work or plumbing repairs. Other days you're patching concrete, painting, doing carpentry, or out on the grounds pulling weeds and keeping things looking right. You'll work closely with our Physical Facilities Coordinator, who sets your schedule and priorities. You'll also team up with the other maintenance mechanics and groundskeepers day to day.

Beyond the regular repair work, you'll:

• Handle key cutting and lock/door hardware repairs (and keep decent records of it)
• Help set up for and break down school events
• Drive/operate school vehicles and carts safely
• Jump in during weather events or building emergencies as a first responder
• Pick up parts and supplies from vendors when needed

What you'll need:

You should be comfortable using a multimeter, reading blueprints, and working with both hand and power tools. This job involves real physical work: climbing ladders and scaffolding, getting into tight spaces like manholes, sometimes working on roofs or elevated areas up to 30 feet. You'll need to be able to lift 50+ pounds (think bags of concrete, toolboxes, pipe), stand or walk most of an 8-hour shift, and work outside in whatever weather shows up that day.

We also need someone who can pick up new tasks quickly, follow through on work orders without needing constant supervision, keep sensitive information private, and treat students, staff, parents, and visitors with basic courtesy and respect because you'll be interacting with all of them.

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays. Some flexibility expected around school events and special projects.

Pay:

Hourly, based on experience.

This is a full-time 12-month position with vacation per school policy.
