Job summary

Rural Electric Inc in Mesa, AZ is seeking an experienced maintenance mechanic to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machinery, company vehicles, and heavy equipment. You will perform routine preventative maintenance and log completed work to minimize downtime.

You will safely operate hand and power tools, follow safety guidelines including LOTO, and strive for smooth, safe operations. Applicants should have a HS diploma or GED and 2–3 years of hands-on repair experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational training preferred.
• 2-3 years' hands-on maintenance experience with diesel/gas engines, hydraulics, and heavy equipment like forklift/skid steer.
• Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or facility maintenance settings.
• Valid Arizona driver's license with clean driving record.
• Medium/Heavy Duty Truck Certifications preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Routinely inspect, clean, and lubricate machinery, vehicles, and parts to prevent failures.
• Perform routine service including oil changes for company vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Diagnose machine malfunctions using precision tools, diagnostic equipment, and manuals.
• Dismantle devices, replace defective parts, and reassemble equipment to spec.
• Perform minor repairs on building systems including basic plumbing, electrical, and structural elements.
• Record maintenance tasks, track parts inventory, and update logs.
• Follow safety guidelines such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and keep a clean workspace.
• Other duties as assigned.

They will perform routine preventative maintenance, safely operate hand and power tools, and log completed work to ensure operations run smoothly and safely with minimal downtime.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Routinely inspect, clean, and lubricate machinery, vehicles, and parts to prevent unexpected mechanical failures.
• Perform routine service including oil changes for company vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Diagnose machine malfunctions using precision tools, diagnostic equipment, and technical manuals.
• Dismantle devices, replace defective parts, and reassemble equipment to original operating standards.
• Perform minor repairs on building systems, including basic plumbing, electrical, and structural elements.
• Record maintenance tasks, track parts inventory, and update logs.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines, such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and maintain a clean workspace.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Knowledge:

• Strong mechanical aptitude and technical troubleshooting ability.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system.
• Proficiency with power tools and hand tools.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

Education, Qualifications, & Experience (including but not limited to):

• High school diploma or GED; vocational training or completed apprenticeship is highly preferred.
• 2-3 years of hands-on mechanical repair experience with small engines, diesel/gas motors, and hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment such as a forklift and skid steer.
• Previous experience in industrial, manufacturing, or facility maintenance settings.
• Valid Arizona driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Medium/Heavy Duty Truck Certifications (preferred, but not required)
