$30-$40 per hour (more experienced)
The Maintenance Technician’s primary duties include performing routine tractor/trailers inspection, ensuring they meet D.O.T. standards, and performing scheduled services including grease, oil, and filters. Other duties include minor trouble shooting and repair of passenger vehicles, trucks, trailers, or any other customer, Ozinga Energy and OZREL equipment as directed by the maintenance manager.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Mechanical Duties:
- Analyze/troubleshoot and repair vehicles, commercial motor vehicles and equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles, commercial motor vehicles and equipment
- Maintain parts & inventory
- Maintain detailed records of any serviced equipment
- Adhere to an inspection procedure checklist (Annual DOT Inspection) on Commercial Motor Vehicles
- Ensure cleanliness of the shop and any other areas work may be performed
Global Responsibilities:
- Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position
- As a CDL Holder, duties may include driving responsibilities assisting in hauling customer freight from time to time
- This job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet business needs.
Qualifications:
Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:
- Knowledge of diagnostic testing on vehicles and engines
- Electrical (wiring) knowledge preferred
- Aptitude for mathematics and science
Experience:
- 1+ years of experience as a mechanic commercial motor vehicles preferred but not required
- Basic tools required to start
Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency with maintenance and repair tools
- Highly organized and able to multitask
- Ability to adapt and learn new technology
- Class A CDL with tank endorsement
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Must maintain a clean MVR
- Operation within a fast-paced environment
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, heavy construction equipment, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions
- Noise level is usually moderate, but can be high and requires personal hearing protection on occasion at job sites and plants
- Must be able to work through stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and composure
- Local travel required
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Must be able to stand and move about job sites with uneven and unpaved ground
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to frequently bend to obtain tools and parts from stockpiles or ground
- Must be able to operate buttons, levers, and other controls located on various equipment
- Must be able to work long and flexible hours as necessary
- Must be able to maneuver in and around our plants, yards, and jobsites as necessary
