Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Completion of Safety/SQF/GMP/HACCP SOPs and related training is required.

Responsibilities

• Identify and locate parts/part numbers from manuals or catalogs.
• Perform basic welding (tig; stick) and assess weld quality.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance to keep machines and buildings in good condition.
• Assemble/repair plumbing and equipment to keep systems operational.
• Disassemble/replace defective equipment or belts and parts.
• Perform basic hydraulics work and motor replacements as needed.
• Complete PM sheets and work orders in the EAM system.
• Work with electrical components safely and effectively.
• Assist in forklift maintenance (tires, bushings, etc.).
• Notify supervisor of malfunctions or repairs needed.

Overview

Long Prairie Packing Company, LLC., an American Foods Group Company, has opportunities for a Maintenance Mechanic at our Long Prairie, MN plant. As our Maintenance Mechanic, you will:

• Identify and locate parts/part numbers from machinery or equipment manuals or parts catalogs (e.g., Cryovac, overhead chains, rail switches, conveyors, saws, etc.).
• Perform basic welding (e.g., primarily tig; and stick). Ability to identify good and bad welds.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance (e.g., grease bearings, lubricate, check fluid levels, replace filters, etc.) to ensure that machines run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
• Assemble, install, or repair plumbing (e.g., threading pipe), equipment or machinery to keep machines, mechanical equipment, or the structure of an establishment in repair.
• Assemble, disassemble, repair, or replace defective equipment or parts (e.g., change belts, gearboxes, etc.).
• Perform basic hydraulics (e.g., change motors, make hoses, etc.).
• Complete necessary paperwork in EAM system (PM sheets, work orders, etc.).
• Basic knowledge of electrical components and operation.
• Assist in performing maintenance on scale equipment (e.g., portable, floor, and matrix - hot/cold) in applicable area(s).
• Perform basic forklift maintenance (change tires, replace bushings, etc.).
• Notify lead or supervisor of any malfunctions or repairs needed.

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be able to successfully complete training: Safety Safe Quality Food (SQF) Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Food defense Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) Lock out tag out Forklift Pallet jack.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 6 months maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Prior experience using hand and power tools, precision measuring tools and the ability to read and work from drawings and blueprints.
