Job summary

Southeastern University seeks a Night Facilities Technician to maintain Lakeland campus facilities. You will repair lighting, plumbing, doors, and HVAC components, and support campus functions during the night shift.

Qualifications include a High School/GED, five years of institutional maintenance experience, and good computer skills with Microsoft Office. Travel and outside contractor coordination are required as needed to keep campus operations running smoothly.

Maintain all areas of campus as deemed by the Director of Maintenance Operations. Provides support to campus functions.

Organizational Relationships

Essential Duties

• Repair/replace lights, switches, receptacles, windows, glass, handles, doors, door locks, door closures, hinges, faucets, shower valves, drains, toilets, urinals, furniture, sheet rock, door jambs, water heaters – gas and electric, etc.
• Provide assistance to the Director of Maintenance Operations, and other maintenance mechanics in removing and/or repairing air conditioners and other various tasks related to the maintenance areas.
• Maintain all areas of campus as deemed by the Director of Maintenance Operations.
• Provide support to campus functions
• Perform any task required by the Director of Maintenance Operations.

Experience

Required:
General maintenance skills.
Five years of apartment/institutional maintenance experience.

Preferred:
Proficient with computers and emails. Able to function the Microsoft office suite.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:
Repair/replace lights, switches, receptacles, windows, glass, handles, doors, door locks, door closers, hinges, faucets, shower valves, drains, toilets, urinals, furniture, sheet rock, door jambs, water heaters – gas and electric, etc.
Ability to troubleshoot HVAC, and restaurant equipment.
Replacing small motors or caps to restore service to the students as quickly as possible.
Aid the Director of Maintenance Operations, and other maintenance mechanics in removing and/or repairing air conditioners and other various tasks related to the maintenance areas.
Provide proper reports of events that occurred during and after the shift to the Director of Maintenance Operations and team.
Carry the call phone Monday – Thursday weekly
Have specific information on all buildings across campus.
Oversee all emergencies that occur during the shift with minimal supervision.
Ability to coordinate several projects and contractors across campus.
Providing access and supervision in students' spaces after hours.
Ability to prioritize emergency responses across campus throughout the shift.
Completing the necessary reports for the Director of Maintenance Operations.

Preferred:
Provide information to the Director of Maintenance Operations related to equipment needs, cleaning, sealing, caulking, and painting of buildings – interior/exterior.
Ability to coordinate and communicate with outside contractors and oversee projects in the specific areas of responsibility.
Ability to operate an aerial lift, forklift and other vehicles as the job requires.
Be able to read, understand and interpret schematics, plans, and diagrams and drawings.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift 50 lbs. Able to work in hot environments, work in tight spaces, on ladders. Must possess excellent hand/eye coordination as well as close vision. Must be able to work in high and low/precarious places.

Training

All new hires and employees transferring into a new position will have a 90-day probationary period within which to learn the functions of the job and to be evaluated.
