Job summary

Sun Chemical Corporation seeks a Maintenance Mechanic to perform routine, emergency and preventive maintenance on office and plant equipment, machines and building facilities. The role includes maintaining work areas, assisting in plant safety and operating the floor scrubber.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, ability to read blueprints and manuals, and knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, HVAC, and pumps.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read blueprints, sketches and equipment manuals.
• Knowledge of pipe fitting, electrical wiring and general mechanics.
• Experience in mechanical, electrical, building and vehicle repair.
• Experience with pumps, drives, belts, and bearings.
• Understanding of 460V 3-phase motor controls and piping.
• Familiarity with steam condensate, boilers and HVAC, safety rules.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Mechanic

Pay: $30 hr plus $1 hr shift differential 2nd Shift

Position Summary

Our Maintenance Mechanic performs routine, emergency and preventive maintenance work on office and plant equipment, machines and building facilities.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform routine, emergency, and preventive maintenance
• Work on office and plant equipment, machines and building facilities
• Assist in maintaining plant security
• Maintain work area, equipment and tools
• Dispose of waste per company policies
• Assist in plant Self Safety and ASI inspections
• Assist in general plant cleaning and general appearance
• Comply with all OSHA required activities for PIT
• Operate floor scrubber
• Must perform up to 60% of procedures within department
• Comply with all company/department safety rules and procedures

Required Education and Experience

• High School diploma/GED
• Ability to read blueprints, sketches and equipment manuals
• Knowledge of pipe fitting, electrical wiring and general mechanics
• Must be experienced in all facets of maintenance – mechanical, electrical, building, & vehicle repair
• Experience with pumps (positive displacement and centrifugal) drives: gearbox, belts, chain, hydraulic, couplings, motor‑air, bearings, shafts, nuts, bolts, taps, and dies
• Electrical: High voltage 460 volt 3 phase, motor controls, low voltage
• Piping (water and steam)
• Boiler – understand steam condensate system – tracing, coils, traps, and pumps
• Air compressor system – including filters, regulators, dryers, and lubricators
• HVAC – general knowledge
• Lift truck – electric EE rated, battery and hydraulics
• Strong math aptitude
