Job summary

PTC in Chicago Heights, IL seeks a Maintenance Mechanic to inspect, repair, install and maintain machinery in a steel mill environment. You will interpret schematics and work with PLC systems and VFDs.

Shift work, weekends, callouts and overtime are required to keep production running safely. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical experience, and related maintenance training or an associate degree.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with equivalent maintenance training.
• 3–5 years of hands-on mechanical experience in industrial settings.
• Experience reading schematics and working with PLCs and VFDs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, and maintain equipment in a steel mill environment.
• Read and interpret schematics and technical drawings; work with PLCs and VFDs.
• Shift work, weekends, callouts and overtime required; ensure safety and quality compliance.

Reviews all activities looking to eliminate waste and continuously improve processes.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:** * Inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, and maintain all equipment in a steel mill environment.* Experience and Capable of working with heavy industry equipment and overhead cranes.* Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and perform work from schematics, technical specifications, drawings, and sketches.
