Job summary

PTC is seeking an electrician to support the Chicago Heights facility with electrical maintenance and installation across a steel mill environment. The role requires reading schematics, troubleshooting electrical and control systems, and working with PLCs and VFDs as needed.

Flexibility for shift work including weekends and overtime is expected. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, electrician training or related degree, and 3–5 years of hands-on experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required, plus electrician training or equivalent experience.
• At least 3–5 years of hands-on commercial or industrial electrical experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license for business travel to attend meetings.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust and maintain electrical and electronic equipment in a steel mill environment.
• Read and interpret schematics and technical drawings; work with PLC systems and VFDs when applicable.
• Perform duties while adhering to safety guidelines and quality management system.
• Handle shift work, weekends, call-outs and overtime as required.
• Document work in reports and communicate progress to supervisor.

Inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust and maintain all electrical and electronic equipment in a steel mill environment.2. Experience and Capable of working with 230/460/600 volt AC & 250 DC mill controls and overhead cranes.3. Ability to read, analyze, interpret and perform work from schematics, technical specifications, drawings and sketches. Experience with PLC systems and variable frequency drives (VFD) a plus.4.
