Job summary

QuestSpecialty in Brenham, Texas seeks a Maintenance Mechanic to ensure continuous operation of production equipment in a non-climate-controlled facility. The role focuses on routine maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and timely repairs to minimize downtime.

The candidate will work with production teams to uphold safety standards, perform inspections, and complete required records and inspections. This is a full-time on-site position with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Proven experience with mechanical systems, including conveyors, in manufacturing.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift and climb ladders.
• Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in manufacturing.
• Basic welding or fabrication skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery (gas house, water bath, conveyors) to ensure reliable operation.
• Diagnose mechanical failures and repair to minimize downtime.
• Operate forklifts safely to move equipment and parts.
• Climb ladders and access elevated areas to inspect and service systems.
• Follow lock out tag out procedures.
• Maintain maintenance records and report safety hazards or equipment issues to management.
• Work overtime to support urgent maintenance needs and production schedules.
• Coordinate repairs with maintenance and production staff.
• Complete monthly and annual inspections as assigned.
• Handle other duties or special projects as directed by supervisor.

About the Role:

The Maintenance Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and systems. This position is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and repairing complex machinery such as pumps, boilers, and conveyor systems. The Maintenance Mechanic will work closely with production teams to minimize downtime and maintain safety standards across the facility. This role requires a hands‑on approach to diagnosing mechanical failures and implementing effective solutions promptly. Ultimately, the Maintenance Mechanic contributes to the overall productivity and safety of the manufacturing environment by maintaining all mechanical systems in optimal working condition.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery such as the gas house, water bath, and conveyor systemsas well as other mechanical equipment to ensure reliable operation.
• Diagnose mechanical failures and execute timely repairs to minimize production downtime.
• Operate forklifts safely to move equipment and parts as needed within the facility.
• Climb ladders and access elevated areas to inspect and service mechanical systems.
• Follow proper lock out tag out procedures
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report any safety hazards or equipment issues to management.
• Work overtime as required to support urgent maintenance needs and production schedules.
• Collaborate with other maintenance and production personnel to coordinate repairs and maintenance activities.
• Complete monthly an annual inspections as assigned.
• Any other duties or special projects that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Required Education and Experience

• Proven experience working with mechanical systems to include conveyor systems in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to safely operate a forklift and climb ladders.
