Job summary

MedStar Health in Baltimore seeks a General Maintenance Technician to perform general mechanical and preventive maintenance on hospital equipment and facilities. You will support coordinating preventive maintenance with repair work, inspect areas, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance across HVAC, refrigeration, and other building systems.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 1–2 years of related maintenance experience, and good verbal/written communication and basic computer

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to safety standards.
• Carries out construction and renovation assignments per work orders.

• Inspects areas and responds to log book requests.
• Maintains inventory, tools and hardware.
• Monitors safety codes and manufacturers specifications.
• Performs maintenance and repair of HVAC, refrigeration, cooling and air‑conditioning systems.
• Performs preventive maintenance on mechanical systems.
• Repairs mechanical and electrical systems as directed.
• Repairs building systems including roofs, walls, fixtures and trim.
• Participates in meetings and committees and community outreach when required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

General Summary of Position

Performs a variety of general mechanical and preventive maintenance on hospital equipment and facilities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
• Carries out construction and renovation assignments in accordance with work order and specification.
• Coordinates preventive maintenance with emergency and repair work activities.
• Inspects assigned areas and responds to log book requests.
• Maintains assigned inventory stocks tools and hardware.
• Monitors conditions to ensure compliance with all safety codes and manufacturers specifications.
• Performs general maintenance and repair of heating ventilating refrigeration cooling and air-conditioning systems and equipment of the hospital.
• Performs preventive maintenance on a variety of mechanical systems.
• Performs repairs on mechanical and electrical systems as directed.
• Repairs building systems including roofs walls fixtures and trim.
• Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts as required and service improvement teams.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required or
• equivalent. required

Experience

• 1-2 years 2 years related maintenance experience required

This position has a hiring range of

USD $23.65 - USD $42.03 /Hr.
