Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System in Houston, TX is seeking a Hospital Maintenance Engineer to oversee all phases of maintenance of buildings, equipment, and the physical plant. You will lead and train engineering staff, perform preventive and corrective repairs, and ensure compliance with safety and hospital policies.

You will coordinate with facilities teams to maintain uninterrupted patient care, manage work orders, and document maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years hospital maintenance experience or equivalent in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or related trades.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and/or written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance on hospital buildings, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and grounds.
• Repairs electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems as needed and maintains related records.
• Maintains HVAC controls and related systems to ensure efficient operation.
• Ensures safety of patients, staff and visitors and adheres to Memorial Hermann policies within budget and time constraints.
• Serves as preceptor/mentor to less experienced staff and supports department goals.
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills

• Minimum 3 years hospital maintenance experience or similar experience within a recognized mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, electronics, general construction trade skill/military experience.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and/or written instructions.

Principal Accountabilities

• Performs a variety of routine standard servicing/repair operations to maintain hospital buildings, equipment, furnishing, fixtures and ground in proper condition as directed.
• Performs urgent, corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems as required; performs preventative maintenance on equipment and physical structures as required, maintaining related records.
• Maintains and repairs HV/AC controls and associated equipment to maximize efficiency levels in all environmentally controlled areas.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors, adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity of service.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
