Job summary

McCabe's Mechanical Services, a Grote Company, Georgetown, DE, is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Manager to keep shop equipment, forklifts, vehicles, facility, and property safe and reliable. This is a working management role; you will perform repairs personally when needed, organize preventive maintenance, and coordinate outside service in a busy shop setting.

CDL is required and strong mechanical judgment is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial or facilities maintenance and equipment repair.
• CDL with clean driving record required.
• Ability to organize preventive maintenance and service records.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair shop machinery, tools, and equipment.
• Develop and maintain preventive-maintenance schedules for shop equipment, forklifts, company vehicles, and facility systems.
• Coordinate outside service and repairs; ensure timely completion and documentation.
• Schedule trucks and company vehicles for routine maintenance and inspections.
• Perform safety checks and coordinate inspections with providers.
• Maintain building, grounds, and property; monitor pipes and HVAC as needed.
• Complete general mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and building repairs when qualified.
• Ensure work areas are clean and organized; communicate priorities to management.

Full-time | Day Shift

Pay: $20-28/hr based on experience

McCabe's Mechanical Services, a Grote Company, manufactures custom stainless‑steel equipment and provides mechanical services for the food‑processing industry. We're looking for a hands‑on Maintenance Manager to keep our shop equipment, forklifts, vehicles, facility, and property safe, reliable, and ready for work.

This is a working manager position for someone who can handle repairs directly, organize preventive maintenance, coordinate outside service, and help with the day‑to‑day transportation needs of a busy shop.

What You'll Do

• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair shop machinery, tools, and equipment
• Develop and maintain preventive‑maintenance schedules for shop equipment, forklifts, company vehicles, and facility systems
• Check forklifts regularly, document issues, and coordinate repairs or service when needed
• Schedule trucks and other company vehicles for routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs, and maintain service records
• Conduct routine visual checks of fire extinguishers and other basic safety equipment, and coordinate required inspections or service with qualified providers
• Take care of the building, grounds, and property, including routine air‑filter changes and cold‑weather monitoring of pipes and building systems
• Complete general mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and building repairs when qualified, and arrange outside service for specialized work
• Respond promptly when equipment or shop items break and follow repairs through to completion
• Maintain an organized supply of tools, replacement parts, filters, and maintenance materials
• Help load trucks for transport and safely unload incoming deliveries
• Make deliveries to plants and other company locations, and pick up materials and supplies as needed
• Keep maintenance and work areas clean and organized, identify safety concerns, and communicate repair priorities to management

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Previous experience in industrial maintenance, facilities maintenance, equipment repair, fleet maintenance, or a related hands‑on role
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and the ability to complete practical repairs safely
• Working knowledge of shop equipment and basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems
• Ability to organize preventive maintenance, service records, repair priorities, and outside vendors
• Ability to work independently, respond to urgent issues, and communicate clearly with management and shop employees
• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) and an acceptable driving record
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work indoors or outdoors in varying conditions

Preferred, but not required

• Experience maintaining forklifts, fleet vehicles, or industrial shop machinery
• Experience with welding, fabrication, or repairs in a manufacturing environment
• Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanics, electrical systems, or a related trade
• Forklift certification and familiarity with OSHA and workplace‑safety practices
• Experience coordinating contractors, service providers, or maintenance helpers

We care more about sound mechanical judgment, reliability, and the willingness to solve problems than whether you've worked with every piece of equipment in our shop.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday‑Friday day shift. Occasional overtime or after‑hours response may be required for urgent maintenance needs. May require overnight trips to deliver goods to customers, though most of our customers are within a day’s drive.
