Job summary

Cheeseman Transport is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee three shop locations, lead Shop Managers and technicians, and ensure efficient maintenance operations. You will manage costs, approve timesheets, plan budgets, and drive equipment planning while delivering safe, reliable service to our customers.

The role requires experience in maintenance or fleet management across multiple sites, strong leadership and financial skills, and the ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance or fleet management, preferably across multiple locations.
• Strong understanding of financial management, including P&L oversight.
• Experience managing teams, including hiring, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance, shop operations, and safety practices.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and locations effectively.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily maintenance operations across three shop locations.
• Provide leadership and support to Shop Managers and technicians.
• Fill in for Shop Managers during vacations or absences to ensure continuity.
• Coordinate vacation coverage planning across all shop locations.
• Audit, review, and close work orders for accuracy and completeness.
• Manage and maintain P&L statements for all shop operations.
• Oversee timesheet approvals and employee time-off requests.
• Develop equipment needs projections and budget planning.
• Facilitate the sale of surplus or retired equipment.
• Interview, hire, and onboard qualified mechanics and technicians.
• Administer disciplinary actions and terminations as needed.
• Support Shop Managers in performance management and employee relations.
• Develop and implement technician training programs; plan ongoing education and skill development.
• Identify gaps in technical skills and align training with needs.
• Purchase and manage shop tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Ensure all locations are properly equipped to operate efficiently.
• Maintain accurate inventory and lifecycle management of tools and assets.
• Serve as a point of contact for customers, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers.
• Ensure quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness of outsourced services.
