Job Description SUMMARY
Coordinate the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of production or processing machines and equipment with minimal downtime. This includes checking, setting up, and operating various types of production tools and equipment prior to approval for production use, as well as maintaining the building and facilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Report to the General Manager & Plant Manager any information that may impede plant operation as soon as it becomes known.
- Monitor warranties and service guarantees; notify personnel of impending expiration dates.
- Conduct monthly selective inventory and verify with computerized inventory of maintenance parts and supplies.
- Take utility meter readings and record usage in computer.
- Locate OEM manufacturers and aftermarket distributors to obtain competitive costs on parts or improved service.
- Order parts and supplies; oversee barcode scanning of parts inventory.
- Initiate and maintain a cost-effective preventive maintenance program.
- Oversee and plan contract work and installations by outside vendors.
- Enhance career skills through seminars, technical courses, and college courses.
- Be on call 24/7.
- Assist in selection, evaluation, and installation of capital and expense projects.
- Implement and support all company policies, safety programs, and good housekeeping.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED.
- Computer and data entry skills.
- Demonstrated personnel management skills.
- Four years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing plant.
- Preferred: College or technical courses; five years in the corrugated box industry with experience in electronics, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity.
SKILLS
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and manuals.
- Effective communication skills for reports and presentations.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to read tape measures accurately.
- Calculate percentages, measurements, volume, and rates.
REASONING ABILITY
- Apply common sense to carry out instructions.
- Handle problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Design and operate equipment efficiently.
- Make cost-effective decisions to reduce costs.
- Understand quality standards and regulatory requirements (OSHA, DEQ, EEO).
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License or other relevant certifications as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regularly stand, walk, talk, hear, handle, reach, and occasionally sit.
- Frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds; occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Visual abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Expose to moving mechanical parts, wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and loud noise.
