Job summary

Aluf Plastics in Orangeburg, NY is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead a 30+ person department supporting a 24x7 operation. You will research, plan, and design mechanical and electromechanical systems and supervise fabrication, installation, and repair to meet engineering and customer specifications. The role requires an engineering degree or 10+ years of related experience.

Spanish is a plus. Proficiency with Word Processing, Inventory, Design, and Internet software is expected.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent; or more than 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Spanish fluency a plus.

• Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.

Job Description

Summary: Manages the 30+ personnel maintenance department supporting a 24x7 operation. Researches, plans, and designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems; directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems; manages department personnel.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following

• Maintains products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
• Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
• Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
• Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.

Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises 30 or more employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have extensive experience with Industrial scale manufacturing equipment. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience Engineering degree or equivalent; or more than 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Spanish fluency a plus.

Math Ability Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Inventory software; Design software and Internet software.
