  • Develop and execute a comprehensive preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategy.
  • Monitor equipment condition and performance using CMMS and root cause analysis to address failures and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory agencies (EPA, OSHA, FDA, FDNY, DOH, DOB, DEP) and internal safety protocols.
  • Oversee external vendors and contractors to ensure maintenance work meets quality, safety, and budget standards.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, tools, and shop organization to support rapid repairs and minimal downtime.
  • Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support across HVAC, refrigeration, boilers, electrical, plumbing, chemical handling, conveyors, forklifts, and food-grade processing equipment.
  • Implement data-driven maintenance improvements using KPIs, CMMS reporting, and downtime analysis.
  • Develop and manage the maintenance budget, controlling costs while improving asset performance and reliability.
  • Foster collaboration with Production, QA, Sanitation, Engineering, and Logistics to resolve maintenance-related issues.
  • Ensure timely response to emergency repairs, equipment failures, and facility-related issues.
  • Lead training and development for maintenance staff to build technical skills, safety awareness, and operational excellence.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
  • Demonstrate strong time management and prioritization skills to handle high-pressure situations and shifting plant needs.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Industrial Technology, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and hands-on field experience (minimum 5 years).
  • Minimum 4 years in maintenance leadership roles, preferably within food manufacturing, distribution, or cold-chain environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC, CO 2 and Cascade 507 refrigeration systems, electrical, boilers/steam/water systems, general carpentry and facility structural maintenance, facility-wide plumbing, fixtures, and material handling.
  • Skilled in diagnosing mechanical/electrical faults, reading schematics, and using diagnostic tools.
  • Familiar with PLC-controlled systems, production line automation, and sanitary equipment.
  • Regulatory & Safety Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, NEC, FDA, and local building code compliance.
  • Experience leading safety initiatives, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • Certified Plant Maintenance Manager (CPMM)
    • EPA 608 Refrigerant Certification
    • HVAC Certification
    • NEC Electrical Certification
    • Chemical Safety Certification
    • Fire Alarm Control Panel and Sprinklers
    • Forklift Certification
    • Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher)
