Job summary

JBS Prepared Foods is seeking a Maintenance Manager in Moberly, MO to lead plant maintenance during startup and beyond. You will direct maintenance activities, drive safety, food safety and quality, manage costs and align with production schedules.

Expect strategic and hands-on responsibilities with cross-functional collaboration. The role requires 5+ years in maintenance at a food processing facility and 3+ years in a leadership capacity, plus experience with ammonia refrigeration and PSM.

Qualifications

• 5+ years maintenance experience in a consumer-packaged goods food plant.
• 3+ years of maintenance management experience.
• Experience with repair and maintenance of food manufacturing equipment, specifically sliced meat processing.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems and PSM programs.
• PC/software skills including CAD.

Responsibilities

• Owns maintenance KPIs for the plant.
• Develops RCAs and action plans to prevent recurrence and drive improvements.
• Assists in capital budgeting with Engineering and Business Development teams.
• Ensures safety training and safety work orders are completed and tracked.
• Sees to food safety and quality in maintenance activities and programs.
• Manages plant maintenance scheduling and KPI cost goals.
• Oversees safety, quality, repair and preventive maintenance programs.
• Sets maintenance culture aligned with company values.
• Collaborates with plant manager and maintenance director.
• Analyzes downtime to improve uptime and efficiency.
• Develops and maintains hiring, training and development programs for maintenance staff.
• Maintains vendor support for cost-effective solutions.
• Recommends improvements to leadership to optimize maintenance function.

Scope of Position:

The maintenance manager is responsible for directing plant maintenance activities. During the startup of the new facility, they will be a part of a team responsible for equipment selection/placement, training, and hiring of the maintenance workforce. After the plant startup, the goal will be to provide direction to the maintenance team in maintenance of production equipment in a manner that ensures employee safety, product safety and quality and compliance to production schedules. This position will also manage all maintenance costs for the plant.

Responsibilities:

• Overall owner of maintenance KPI’s


• Coordinate s the development of RCA’s and action plans to solve problems and make improvements


• Assist the Business Development & Engineering team in establishing and executing capital budgets


• Ensure team member safety through training and completion/tracking of safety work orders


• Ensure food safety & quality as it relates to plant maintenance activities and programs


• Responsible for plant schedule attainment as it relates to plant maintenance activities and programs


• Deliver cost KPI’s including MRO inventory & plant maintenance costs


• Oversee measurement, tracking and planning for safety, quality, repair and preventative maintenance programs


• Set the maintenance culture for the plant and uphold Swift values


• Work closely with the plant manager and maintenance director


• Monitor and analyze maintenance down time to improve production up time as efficiently as possible


• Manage, develop and maintain programs for hiring, training & professional development for the maintenance team


• Manage, develop and maintain vendor support to ensure the most cost-effective solutions


• Make recommendations to the leadership team to improve the maintenance function

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience


• 5+ years maintenance experience with a consumer-packaged goods food plant


• 3+ years of maintenance management experience


• Experience with repair and maintenance of food manufacturing equipment, specifically sliced meat processing


• Experience with an ammonia refrigeration systems and PSM programs


• PC / software skills including CAD.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle/feel items, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and talk or hear.


• Office and plant setting: the plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold (non-weather related), and working near moving mechanical parts


• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
