Job summary

Swift Prepared Foods in Missouri seeks a Maintenance Manager to lead the plant’s maintenance strategy and execution. You will guide equipment selection, training, and hiring during startup, then direct maintenance programs to ensure safety, quality, and production schedule adherence.

You will oversee cost KPIs, develop RCA-based action plans, and partner with the plant manager and maintenance director to optimize downtime and costs while upholding Swift values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience required.
• 5+ years maintenance experience in a consumer-packaged goods food plant.
• 3+ years of maintenance management experience.
• Experience with repair and maintenance of food manufacturing equipment, specifically sliced meat processing.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems and PSM programs.
• PC/ software skills including CAD.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Business Development & Engineering team in capital budgets
• Ensure team member safety through training and safety work orders
• Ensure food safety & quality as it relates to plant maintenance activities
• Responsible for plant schedule attainment in maintenance activities
• Deliver cost KPI’s including MRO inventory & plant maintenance costs
• Oversee measurement, tracking and planning for safety, quality, repair and preventive maintenance programs
• Set the maintenance culture for the plant and uphold Swift values
• Work closely with the plant manager and maintenance director
• Monitor and analyze maintenance downtime to improve production uptime
• Manage, develop and maintain programs for hiring, training & professional development for the maintenance team
• Manage vendor support to ensure cost-effective solutions
• Make recommendations to leadership to improve the maintenance function

Scope of Position

The maintenance manager is responsible for directing plant maintenance activities. During the startup of the new facility, they will be a part of a team responsible for equipment selection/placement, training, and hiring of the maintenance workforce. After the plant startup, the goal will be to provide direction to the maintenance team in maintenance of production equipment in a manner that ensures employee safety, product safety, and quality and compliance to production schedules. This position will also manage all maintenance costs for the plant.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

• Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle/feel items, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and talk or hear.
• Office and plant setting: the plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold (non-weather related), and working near moving mechanical parts
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
