Job description

Maintenance Manager

Department: Facilities & Engineering
Reports To: VP of Warehouse Operations

Job Summary: The Maintenance Manager oversees all facility and equipment maintenance for our advanced warehouse and 3PL fulfillment center. This role is primarily focused on human capital development and strategic project management. You will lead, mentor, and upskill a multi-shift technical team while ruthlessly prioritizing competing projects to ensure maximum uptime for our print press, embroidery, laser printing, and robotic picking systems. The ideal candidate balances high-level people leadership with strong operational project execution.

Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Talent Development
  • Team Upskilling: Build and execute a structured training matrix to cross-train technicians on specialized machinery (e.g., transitioning traditional mechanics to handle robotics and laser systems).
  • Mentorship & Coaching: Conduct regular 1-on-1s, performance reviews, and career development planning to foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous growth.
  • Shift & Resource Allocation: Strategically schedule and deploy technician resources across multiple shifts to ensure optimal technical coverage during peak 3PL fulfillment windows.
Project Prioritization & Operational Execution
  • Work Order Management: Evaluate, rank, and delegate daily incoming maintenance requests based on operational impact, balancing urgent emergency repairs with long-term preventative maintenance.
  • CAPEX & Upgrades: Plan, budget, and execute facility capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects, equipment installations, and major automation overhauls on time and within budget.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Use CMMS data, machine downtime metrics, and team performance KPIs to identify bottleneck areas and reallocate resources effectively.
Technical Oversight & Maintenance Strategy
  • Specialized Automation: Oversee the preventative maintenance schedules for commercial printing presses, multi-head embroidery machines, industrial lasers, and autonomous mobile picking robots (AMRs).
  • Safety Leadership: Champion a zero-incident safety culture by enforcing strict OSHA standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, and laser safety compliance (ANSI Z136).
  • Vendor Management: Manage external contractors, specialized equipment OEMs, and spare parts inventory workflows to complement internal team capabilities.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Required Leadership & Management Experience:
    • People Management: Direct supervisory experience leading, developing, and training a team of industrial maintenance technicians.
    • Project Management: Proven ability to manage complex technical projects, allocate resources, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
    • Training Background: Demonstrated experience implementing training programs, apprenticeship pathways, or technical certification tracks for employees.
  • Technical & General Qualifications:
    • Experience: Maintenance experience in a combined manufacturing, automated distribution, or tech-driven 3PL environment.
    • Automation Exposure: Familiarity with warehouse robotics/automated systems AND industrial production machinery (printing, textile, or laser engraving equipment).
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business management, Engineering, or equivalent technical trade leadership experience preferred.
