Job summary

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee the daily activities of the Maintenance Department, ensuring efficient utilization of personnel, equipment, and resources.
• Develop, implement, and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all production equipment, facility systems, and infrastructure.
• Assign, prioritize, and monitor maintenance work orders to ensure timely completion of repairs and preventive maintenance activities.
• Maintain accountability for department performance, operational efficiency, safety compliance, and equipment reliability.
• Serve as a working leader by assisting maintenance technicians with troubleshooting, repair, and equipment installation activities.
• Manage maintenance-related projects, including equipment upgrades, facility improvements, capital projects, and new equipment installations.
• Oversee maintenance parts inventory to ensure critical spare parts are available while controlling inventory costs.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between the company and external contractors, vendors, and service providers.
• Coordinate and evaluate the performance of contractors and service providers to ensure quality work and compliance with company requirements.
• Ensure accurate and complete maintenance records, including repairs, preventive maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment histories.
• Ensure all Maintenance Department personnel comply with company policies, maintenance procedures, GMP, HACCP, safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and reinforce compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and all facility safety programs.
• Conduct routine inspections and daily walkthroughs of the facility to identify maintenance, safety, and operational concerns and implement corrective actions.
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the department.
• Coach, mentor, and develop maintenance team members to improve technical skills and overall department performance.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Department while providing hands-on technical support when needed. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all production equipment, facilities, and utility systems through effective preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Maintenance Manager is accountable for departmental performance, employee development, compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and the implementation of maintenance programs that support operational excellence and minimizing equipment downtime.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, electrical and mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Experience managing maintenance personnel in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, food safety standards, OSHA regulations, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• SQF, SILLIKER Audits or BRC Experience Required
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Associates degree or 7 years of Maintenance Management experience.
• Prior maintenance experience in the food or meat industry preferred
• Prior Supervisory experience required
• Previous experience working with both manual and electronic work order and maintenance request systems required
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work early hours, overtime, weekends and split shifts as needed
• Responsible, organized and self-motivated
