Job summary

Utz Quality Foods is seeking a Maintenance Lead to guide our maintenance team at the Kindig Lane facility. The role focuses on hands-on leadership, preventive maintenance, and rapid problem-solving to keep production running smoothly.

You will oversee troubleshooting of PLC-controlled equipment, manage parts inventory, and ensure adherence to GMP and safety standards while driving continuous improvements in maintenance processes.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or equivalent.
• Hands-on troubleshooting and repair of bagger machines and industrial production machinery.
• Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing PLC-controlled equipment.
• Strong leadership to guide and mentor a team of maintenance technicians.
• Knowledge of GMP, OSHA, EPA and Food Safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Maintenance team; prioritize work orders and ensure efficient, accurate tasks.
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and PLC-controlled equipment (baggers, motors, drives, fryers, packaging systems).
• Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and supplies for repairs and maintenance.
• Ensure maintenance work complies with GMP, OSHA, EPA and Food Safety guidelines.
• Document preventive maintenance, repairs, and work orders in the EAM System for audits.
• Lead 5S implementation to keep a safe, organized work environment.
• Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes and production efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and direction to the Maintenance team, ensuring work orders are prioritized and tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
• Oversee the implementation of preventive maintenance programs to keep equipment running smoothly and minimize downtime.
• Perform troubleshooting and repairs on electrical, mechanical, and PLC-controlled equipment, including bagger machines, motors, drives, fryers, and packaging systems.
• Maintain a controlled inventory of parts, tools, and supplies to ensure the Maintenance team has everything they need to perform repairs and maintenance efficiently.
• Ensure all maintenance work adheres to GMP, OSHA, EPA, and Food Safety guidelines while supporting the plant’s safety culture and compliance.
• Maintain accurate documentation of preventive maintenance, repairs, work orders, and other maintenance activities in the EAM System to comply with audit requirements.
• Drive the implementation of 5S processes to maintain an organized and clean work environment, contributing to safety and productivity.
• Identify opportunities to optimize the maintenance processes and contribute to ongoing improvements in production efficiency.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic or equivalent, with hands‑on experience troubleshooting and repairing bagger machines and other industrial production machinery.
• High School Diploma or Trade School education in Industrial Machinery Mechanics, HVAC, or related fields.
• Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing PLC-controlled equipment, bagger machines, and mechanical systems like motors, drives, fryers, packaging machines, and more.
• Knowledge of Ishida packaging equipment, Heat and Control fryers, and conveyor systems is preferred.
• Strong leadership skills to guide and mentor a team of maintenance technicians.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities, with the capacity to analyze data, interpret issues, and implement solutions effectively.
• Ability to communicate well with cross‑functional teams, ensuring alignment and timely completion of maintenance tasks.
