Job summary

The Gill Corporation in El Monte, CA is seeking a Maintenance Lead who under minimum supervision installs, maintains, repairs or rebuilds complex machine tools and plant equipment. This role involves decision-making on 2nd and 3rd shifts and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

You will disassemble equipment, repair parts, troubleshoot plant systems, install new equipment under engineering supervision, and supervise handling of hazardous materials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
• 10 years of related experience cited in the posting.
• Specialized experience with boilers, hydraulics and plumbing.
• Strong decision-making skills.
• Valid California Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
• Must be able to operate forklift, cherry picker (boom lift) and scissor lift.

Responsibilities

• Disassembles problem equipment and determines extent of repairs.
• Repairs, refits or replaces worn or defective parts.
• Troubleshoot various plant equipment and systems.
• Installs new plant equipment under engineering supervision.
• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate trouble causes.
• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools.
• Manage or participate in handling, storage and disposal of hazardous substances or waste and chemicals.

The Gill Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Lead who under minimum supervision, installs, maintains, repairs or rebuilds complicated machine tools and special purpose machines and plant equipment. Responsible for making decisions on 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, they will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Disassembles problem equipment and determines extent of repairs necessary.
• Repairs, refits or replaces worn or defective parts.
• Troubleshoot various plant equipment and systems.
• Installs new plant equipment under engineering supervision.
• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools.
• Manage or participate in the management of the handling, storage and disposal manifesting of hazardous substances or hazardous waste and the disposal of chemicals, e.g. asbestos;
• Repairs electrical equipment.
• Other essential duties may be assigned.
