Maintenance Technicians - Automated Warehouse / ASRS

John Charles Search is exclusively representing a leading global intralogistics and warehouse automation business on a major new automated facility project in the USA. We are currently looking for experienced Level II Maintenance Technicians, Level III Advanced Maintenance Technicians and a Senior Lead Technician to support the operation and maintenance of a highly automated distribution environment.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a newly commissioned, high-performance automated facility, working with advanced ASRS, conveyor, material-handling and control systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance across automated material-handling systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and automation faults.
- Maintain and repair ASRS, conveyors, motors, drives and electromechanical equipment.
- Diagnose 24VDC, 120VAC and 480VAC electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot VFDs, motor controls, sensors and control systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings.
- Analyse PLC fault messages and perform PLC diagnostics.
- Diagnose pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Carry out component replacements, repairs and equipment adjustments.
- Perform root-cause analysis and identify recurring equipment failures.
- Support commissioning, start-up and system optimisation.
- Maintain detailed maintenance and repair documentation.
- Escalate complex technical issues to engineering/OEM support.
- Follow strict LOTO, electrical safety and working-at-height procedures.
- Provide professional support to site operations and customer stakeholders.
Level II Maintenance Technician
- 3-5 years' industrial maintenance experience.
- Experience within warehouse automation, logistics, manufacturing or automated production environments.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with conveyors, ASRS or automated material-handling systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot 24VDC, 120VAC and 480VAC systems.
- Experience with VFDs, motors and control systems.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Basic PLC troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.
- Knowledge of sensors, HMIs and automation systems.
- Pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting experience.
- Strong problem-solving and prioritisation skills.
Level III Advanced Maintenance Technician
- 5+ years maintaining automated systems, ideally within high-volume logistics or distribution facilities.
- Advanced electrical and controls troubleshooting experience.
- Strong PLC diagnostic capabilities.
- Experience with industrial networks and fieldbus systems.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience supporting commissioning and system optimisation.
- Ability to analyse equipment performance, wear and recurring failures.
- Comfortable supporting Controls Engineers and specialist teams during escalations.
- Strong technical reporting and documentation skills.
- Experience mentoring less experienced technicians.
The Senior Lead Technician will provide technical leadership across the on-site maintenance operation, acting as a key escalation point for complex equipment and automation issues.
- Lead and support the on-site maintenance team.
- Mentor Level II and Level III technicians.
- Coordinate responses to critical equipment failures.
- Prioritise breakdowns based on operational impact.
- Lead root-cause analysis and reliability improvements.
- Liaise with engineering and specialist support teams.
- Support commissioning, upgrades and engineering changes.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve uptime.
- Ensure preventative maintenance is completed effectively.
- Maintain technical documentation and maintenance reports.
- Act as a key technical contact for site stakeholders.
