Job summary

Archdiocese of San Antonio seeks a Maintenance/Janitorial Worker to care for parish facilities and grounds. The role covers routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, safety, and minor repairs across carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and painting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• General Duties in maintenance and janitorial care.
• Clean and care for assigned areas and equipment (dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming).
• Check grounds for litter/garbage and unsafe conditions.
• Identify and report building and ground issues to Pastor.
• Observe and adhere to all safety policies and regulations.
• Lift and carry supplies up to 30 pounds.
• Replace light bulbs as needed.
• Replace filters on HVAC and related systems as recommended.
• Set up rooms per work orders (tables, chairs, equipment).
• Perform routine inspection and maintenance activities.
• Keep buildings and property clean and well-maintained.
• Stock and maintain supplies inventory.
• Assist staff and volunteers with manual tasks; attend Buildings & Grounds meetings.
• Perform repairs or general maintenance including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and painting tasks.
• Moves and transports furniture and deliveries as needed.
• Use tools ranging from hand tools to electrical testing devices.

Schedule / Work Hours: Monday - Thursday: 8am - 5pm; Friday: 7am - 4pm

Reports to: Pastor and Director of Operations

Summary: The Maintenance / Janitorial Worker will be responsible for the care and maintenance of the parish facilities and grounds. This position will also require the individual to be knowledgeable of minor repairs to include carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and painting. Responsibilities include basic and preventive maintenance and ensuring safe and efficient grounds and facilities.

Responsibilities

• General Duties.
• Clean and care for assigned areas and equipment (dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming).
• Check grounds for litter/garbage and unsafe conditions.
• Identify and report building and ground issues in need of repair or attention to Pastor.
• Observe and adhere to all safe work and health policies and regulations
• Lift and carry supplies, equipment, deliveries etc. weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Replace light bulbs as needed.
• Replace filters on all facilities’ air conditioners, furnace, etc. as recommended.
• Set-up rooms in the manner and timeframe requested (tables, chairs, microphone, chalk boards, etc.).
• Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities
• Keep buildings and property clean, attractive, well-maintained and energy efficient.
• Stock and maintain a cost-effective inventory of custodial cleaning supplies, paper, toiletries, lighting and maintenance/repair supplies.
• Assist staff and volunteers with manual tasks as needed.Attend Buildings & Grounds meetings as necessary.
• Perform repairs or general maintenance including minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and painting tasks.
• Prepares, sets up and breaks down meeting room set up per work order request to include tables, chairs and meeting equipment.
• Performs a variety of tasks in the maintenance and alterations of landscape areas as needed
• Maintains security of campus buildings including checking, opening, closing and locking doors and windows, activating and deactivating building alarm.
• Moves and assists in transporting furniture and delivery of items to and from campus sites and facilities.
• Use of tools ranging from common hand and power tools such as hammers, hoist, saws, drills and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
• Any other duties as required by the Pastor and Director of Operations

Physical Demands

• Spend 80-90% of work time standing/ squatting/ lifting/ kneeling doing a wide variety of moderate physical activity both indoors and outdoors.
• The position requires the lifting of tools, equipment or material weighing up to 30 lbs. as necessary.
• Use of ladders and climbing up to 30 feet high will be required to maintain facilities when necessary.
