Job summary

Voltava is seeking a Maintenance Intern to support our Maintenance team in a manufacturing facility in Michigan. This role provides hands-on exposure to plant maintenance, preventive care, and production support under experienced professionals.

You will learn preventive maintenance, equipment care, and day-to-day operations while contributing to a clean, safe, and efficient production environment. The program emphasizes safety, reliability, and teamwork in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Maintenance team with routine, non-technical maintenance and facility support.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Help with basic preventive maintenance activities under supervision.
  • Clean and maintain production and maintenance equipment and work areas.
  • Respond to production line maintenance requests and assist team members.
  • Identify and report equipment concerns or maintenance issues.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe maintenance work environment.
  • Use basic hand tools safely and appropriately.
  • Support Technicians and Leaders with assigned projects.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and operating procedures.
  • Complete tasks accurately and on time.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

About the Role:

As a Maintenance Non-Technical Intern, you will support the Maintenance team with day-to-day activities that help keep the plant, production areas, and equipment clean, safe, and operating efficiently. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while learning about plant maintenance, equipment care, preventive maintenance, and production support.

This internship is designed to provide practical, hands-on exposure to manufacturing maintenance while allowing you to learn from experienced Maintenance professionals. You will gain an understanding of preventive maintenance, equipment care, production support, workplace safety, and the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing facility.

What You Will Do:
  • Assist the Maintenance team with routine, non-technical maintenance and facility support activities.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as directed and within the scope of your training.
  • Assist with basic preventive maintenance activities under the direction of the Maintenance Leader.
  • Clean and maintain production and maintenance equipment and work areas.
  • Respond to production line maintenance requests and assist Maintenance team members as directed.
  • Help identify and report equipment concerns, unusual conditions, or potential maintenance issues.
  • Assist with maintaining an organized, clean, and safe maintenance work environment.
  • Use basic hand tools and equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Support Maintenance Technicians and Maintenance Leaders with assigned projects and activities.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and operating procedures.
  • Complete assigned tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
What You Need To Be Successful:
  • Have an interest in manufacturing, maintenance, skilled trades, or industrial operations.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Basic familiarity with hand tools and their proper use.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and willing to take initiative.
  • Ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and complete assigned tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal oversight once properly trained.
  • Willingness to work different shifts, weekends, and/or overtime based on plant and production needs.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Current enrollment in a technical, trade, vocational, manufacturing, or related educational program is a plus.
  • Previous manufacturing, production, maintenance, facilities, automotive, or skilled-trades experience is preferred but not required.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
