Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Columbus, OH is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician for maintenance work at Dow Deer Park. The ideal candidate should have at least 7 years of hands-on experience and an Associates Degree in Instrumentation. Qualifications

• 7 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician.
• Ability to pass NCCER Written Skill Assessment.
• Pass a post-offer drug/alcohol test and background checks.
• Associates Degree in Instrumentation required

Responsibilities

• Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and replace process instruments.
• Maintain valves, vibration monitors, and other instruments.
• Conduct troubleshooting for electrical and PLC systems.
• Troubleshoot energized motor controls
• Size thermal-overloads, breakers, and fuses
• Evaluate instrument performance for optimization opportunities
• Loop check electrical wiring for continuity and termination
• Field calibrate electronic instruments with transmitters, controllers, transducers, valves, and recorders
• Read one-line schematics, P&ID's, and ladder diagrams
• Know electrical test tools and OSHA rules and regulations

The Position:

We are looking for a positive, energetic instrument technician with a wide variety of abilities to complement our experienced workforce. Applicants should have the ability to:

• Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and replace process instruments as a part of the facility’s maintenance program
• Maintain process instruments including valves, vibration monitors and other instruments
• Pressure test pneumatic instruments for leaks, pneumatic instruments with controllers, transducers, and valves in service
• Perform troubleshooting on energized motor controls
• Size thermal-overloads, breakers, and fuses
• Conduct instrumentation evaluation and troubleshooting for electrical, pneumatic, electronic as well as programmable logic control (PLC) systems
• Involve in evaluation of instrument performance to identify optimization and enhancement opportunities
• Loop check electrical wiring for continuity and proper termination
• Perform field calibration of electronic instruments with transmitters, controllers, transducers, valves, and recorders in service
• Read, understand, correlate, and trouble-shoot from one-line schematics P & ID's, and ladder diagrams
• Knowledgeable in the use of electrical equipment testers including V.O.M., AMP meter and 1000-volt insulation tester
• Knowledgeable in communication and applicable electrical OSHA rules and regulations

Requirements:

• Ability to meet the cut score on the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Written Skill Assessment
• Ability to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug/alcohol test and applicable background checks
• Minimum 7 years experience as an Instrumentation Technician
• Associates Degree in Instrumentation
