Job summary

Union County is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance III / HVAC Technician to join our Facilities team. This position plays a critical role in maintaining County buildings and systems by performing HVAC installation, repair, and preventive maintenance, as well as a variety of skilled maintenance tasks involving plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building upkeep.

The successful candidate will have vocational training in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or related fields,

Qualifications

  • Vocational or technical school training in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or a related field.
  • Experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or building maintenance.
  • Three years of equivalent education, training, and experience considered.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
  • Universal EPA Certification.
  • Tracer Summit System Operations certification (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions and complete repairs.
  • Calibrate thermostatic controls and replace filters and components.
  • Perform plumbing repairs and maintenance, including leaks and water systems.
  • Carpentry tasks: doors, windows, drywall, hardware installation.
  • Electrical maintenance of motors, pumps, switches, controllers.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles; complete work orders and records.
  • Assist with grounds maintenance, deliveries, and other facility duties.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Vocational or technical school training in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or a related field.
  • Experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or building maintenance.
  • Three years of equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
  • Universal EPA Certification.
  • Certification in Tracer Summit System Operations (or the ability to obtain and maintain certification).

Physical and Environmental Requirements

This position requires moderate physical activity, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Work may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, heights, confined spaces, electrical systems, machinery, and other environmental hazards commonly associated with facility maintenance work.
