Job summary

Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges is seeking a part-time Maintenance Worker to keep our facilities clean, safe, and well-maintained. The role requires hands-on cleaning, minor repairs, and assisting with event setup.

The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma and at least 3 years of maintenance experience, with knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment. This position supports daily operations across our Y facilities and contributes to a welcoming environment for members.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years in general maintenance or related experience preferred.
• Ability to interpret written instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
• Understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
• Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of assigned areas and equipment according to daily schedule.
• Wet and dust mop, dust, trash removal, recycling, window washing, painting, vacuuming of rooms, bathrooms, hallways, gym area and grounds.
• Record and report repairs; perform repairs as directed.
• Ensure building and property security during shift; report hazards to supervisor.
• Replace soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
• Set up and breakdown of functions and events.
• Repair equipment as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Essential Functions:

• Ensure the YMCA is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
• Wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, and painting, vacuuming rooms, bathrooms, hallways, stairs, gym area and grounds.
• Record and report all needed repairs; repair as directed.
• Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
• Replace soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
• Set up and breakdown of all functions and events.
• Repair equipment as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
